Eastern Coast of Mallorca

Felanitx, Santanyí, Son Servera, Porto Colom

The Eastern coast is made up of several coves, which, during the 1960s and 1970s, gave origin to some tourist centres. From the Costa de los Pinos until Cala Santanyí, this part of Mallorca still has placid landscape, surrounded by pines and transparent waters.
From these coves, in small boats, one can start a tour alongside the coast or travel to the nearby national park, Parque Nacional Marítimo Terrestre de Cabrera.
Cala Millor is in one the most important tourist centres. It is inside the municipal area of Son Servera and has a wide beach and clear waters. Between Cala Millor and Sa Coma (where the auto-safari is located), one finds Punta de n'Amer, a protected area that includes a defence tower from the XVII century.
Other sites such as S'illot, with the islet which gave it its name; Porto Cristo, with the famous Cuevas del Drac y dels Hams; Cala Anguila; Cala Romántica; Calas de Mallorca; Cala Tropicana and Cala Murada follow.
The Southern part of this coast arrives at the municipality of Santanyí. Cala D'or, its coves, Cala Mondragó (natural spot), Cala Santanyí and Cala Figuera (traditionally a fishermen's harbour) are places where landscape colours change and where the tourist spots have a pure Mediterranean style with white houses scattered along several harbours.
We have a large offer of holiday houses, villas, farmhouses along this coast line. For more information ask our customer service.

Cap de Pera (Capdepera)

A village with an outstanding fortified castle built in the XIII century by the Arabs and which allows for a view of Menorca on clear days. Located in the northeastern part of the island whose main tourist nucleus is Cala Rajada. From the south and south-east side of Mallorca it is a nice drive of aprox. 30 minutes by car, following the coast-line.
Cove rich municipality where one can choose between swimming and simply staring at the landscape. Coves such as Canyamel, Font de sa Cala, Playa de Son moll, Cala Gat, Cala Agulla and Cala Mesquida. The last two offer a trail that leads to the watchtower of San Jaume II.
The road leading to Canyamel offers a tower that gives name to this tourist zone, Torre de Canyamel. It had previous names such Torre de Garbalien, Torre d'en Montsó and Torre des Troig. King Juan II established a concession in 1468 regarding sugar cane sowing and industrialization. In 1960, the owners of this tower started its urbanization.
If you are a golf lover, this municipality has two fields (Capdepera y Canyamel), and offers horse riding excursions and diving activities.

Artà,  Ses Païses

In the most Eastern part of the island, in the middle of a large valley, lays the village of Artà, where the Arabs fortified its capital city, which was established on the summit of Puig de Sant Salvador, where the Sant Salvador church, from the XVII century is located.
Due to its talayot (prehistoric stones) sites of "Ses Païses", it can be inferred that the village was inhabited since the beginning of its creation. Straw handicrafts are famous and hats, mats, and baskets are made using this material and techniques that date back to the islamic times.
Less than a kilometre away, southeast direction, one finds the village of Ses Païses, in the middle of an oak wood grove, and National Artistic and Cultural Heritage site since 1946. Several prospecting sites were created between 1959-1963 by the Italian professor Giovanne Lilliu. He unburied many pieces that were left there for the visitor.
The talayot village of Ses Païses was inhabited from 1200 BC until the first century before Christ. According to archaeologist Rosello Bordoy, the settlement has around 59 rooms and a total population of aprox. 325. The regional museum, funded in 1927, keeps materials, fossils and musical instruments from that time.
